Cassie and O'Kane
Cassie came first into my life and in front of the camera in 2005. At fourteen, she reappeared because of a commission to photograph her brother, O'Kane. Only now she was blind and moving slowly. After photographing O'Kane, I decided to take a few quick shots of her, just to see how they would be, even though I felt reluctant with her blindness. The photographs reveal a relaxed yet stately eloquence, wisdom and self-assurance that perhaps only comes with maturity. Cassie made her transition a month later. I will never doubt possibilities again; grace may be hidden, yet is always present – if I'm willing to see it.
