I've named this ongoing series of images scanographs as they remind me of photograms, which were originally made in the darkroom by laying objects over sensitized paper and then exposing it to light.
In this same manner I lay various items together on the scanner bed, and then expose via a scan. Perhaps I should call them scanograms, or just call the process Scanography. I think of the scanner actually as a kind of mini photo studio. I put things on the bed, playing with scale never knowing how they'll show up. The scanner has it's own agenda with how it decides to light up an object and define space and time. I love the consequence here of chance yet in truth, there are no coincidences.
