Scanographs
I've named this ongoing series of images scanographs – as they remind me of photograms, which were originally made in the darkroom by laying objects over sensitized paper and then exposing it to light.
In this same manner I lay various items together on the scanner bed, and then expose via a scan. Perhaps I should call them scanograms, or just call the process Scanography. I think of the scanner actually as a kind of mini photo studio. I put things on the bed, playing with scale – never knowing how they'll show up. The scanner has it's own agenda with how it decides to light up an object and define space and time. I love the consequence here of chance – yet in truth, there are no coincidences.
